Mitigating Occupational Violence
Audience
Any person working within
remote locations, relief and development and or with safety responsibilities for
other staff.
Summary
Violence is often a daily occurrence within
humanitarian work, regardless of if it is witnessed or indeed staff are the
direct target, they long term impact is significant.
This Unit focuses upon skills and knowledge aimed
at mitigating or reducing the instances of violence within the humanitarian
"workplace". Characteristics of anger, violence and influences are discussed
in detail, strategies for preparedness, prevention and or response are provided
and "quick skills" identified for conflict de-escalation in the day to day
humanitarian work structure.
